Summer time is cherry cherry time …
Let’s be honest, the sweet fruits don’t survive the transport to the kitchen. As soon as these are bought – you can get the best from the farmer around the corner – you look at them and they whisper “Eat me! Eat me!”. What should you do there …? At least I always feel that way :). This delicacy of nature is one of my personal favorites when it comes to food and I could write an ode to you here … but since there are other things to do, we’ll postpone it. Maybe next year.
But maybe you can resist this seduction and in this case and because the cherry season is soon over and we have to do without the delicious delicacies of nature for half an eternity (at least in its fresh form) we have a delicious recipe for you here.
Recipe for cherry cherry
- 100 g toasted bread (3 slices)
- 100 ml milk
- 50 g butter
- 50 g cane sugar
- 2 eggs
- 200 g cherries (fresh or from the glass)
- 1 tsp sweet tonka kiss
Cut the toasted bread into cubes and soak in the milk. Mix the butter and sugar. Separate eggs. Stir the egg yolk and the soaked bread into the butter mixture. Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold in egg whites. Stone the cherries.
Grease a casserole dish (approx. 22/14 cm) and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Layer the dough and cherries alternately in the form, finish with dough. Bake at 150 ° C (fan oven) for 40 minutes. Serve with flakes of butter, Sweet Tonka Kiss and flaked almonds and bake for another 10 minutes.
You can top it all with vanilla sauce …
