Let’s be honest, we all know the following scenario: You lie relaxed on the sofa or sit comfortably with your good friends and the first bags of chips are quickly in front of your nose. You bravely grab for the first time, with the firm belief that this will be the only hand chips this evening, but the bag is already empty. As if swept away by ghostly hands! How was it with just a handful of chips? But once you start, you just can’t resist. However, the guilty conscience usually reports very quickly after the bag is eaten.
To make it less loud next time, the best thing to do is simply make the chips yourself. This saves at least some fat and you have something in your hand in the snack. To make the whole thing a little more exciting, we did not simply grate vegetables, but tried a completely new snack: roasted chickpeas. These become really crunchy in the oven and are reminiscent of roasted peanuts in batter. You can also get really creative. From the classic use of the vegetable chip spice, to our Smoky BBQ Rub with a smoky note, to the variant with rosemary and salt or even sweet with cinnamon and honey – countless combinations of spices can be found for the delicious chickpea snack with a high addiction factor. And if you want to add a few chips, just slice a few normal potatoes or sweet potatoes, parsnips, carrots or beetroot, zucchini and celery and put them on the baking sheet. It is important to cut the vegetables as thinly as possible and bake neither chickpeas nor vegetables overlapping!
The next DVD evening can come!
roasted chickpeas
- 2 cans of cooked chickpeas
- 2 tablespoons of good olive oil
- 1 tbsp Young Kitchen Vegetable Chips Seasoning
It’s that easy:
Wash the chickpeas thoroughly, dry them well on kitchen paper and remove any loose skins. Put the oil in a small bowl. Turn the chickpeas inside and bake in the oven at 180 degrees for about 40 minutes. Important: shake the sheet once every 10 minutes or stir with a spoon so that nothing burns. As soon as the chickpeas are crispy, take them out of the oven, put them in a bowl and stir in the vegetable chips. Then let it cool well and ideally eat the same day! But let’s be honest, the little delicacies don’t survive any longer!
