Turmeric – the trend spice with a difference

Turmeric, also known as turmeric, saffron or yellow ginger. The spice originally comes from South Asia and its taste is earthy to slightly bitter. Hard to imagine that turmeric is largely responsible for the taste of the current trend drink – golden milk or turmeric latte. This drink gives the body an energy boost and is considered particularly stimulating, cleansing and healing in Ayurvedic teaching. The interesting thing about turmeric is its active ingredient curcumin. It not only ensures the yellow color, it is also said to have positive health effects. In India, where turmeric is mainly grown, the plant has been used as a natural remedy for thousands of years and is said to be responsible for inhibiting inflammation and lowering cholesterol levels. Medicine is still cautiously optimistic about the effects. We once experimented with the trendy spice mix from our Young Kitchen line and discovered other possible uses.

Golden milk rice with plum topping ingredients

  •  150 g milk rice
  •  600 ml milk
  •  2 tbsp cane sugar
  •  1 tsp Young Kitchen Golden Milk
  •  400 g plums
  •  3 tsp Young Kitchen Sweet Tonka Kiss
  •  a pinch of salt

Mix rice pudding, milk, cane sugar, Young Kitchen’s golden milk and a pinch of salt in a saucepan and bring to the boil briefly. Then cook for 30 minutes at a low temperature with the lid closed. Stir again and again in between, then the milk rice becomes nice and creamy and does not burn to the ground. Wash the plums, stone them, cut them into small pieces and let them simmer together with Young Kitchen Sweet Tonka Kiss for 20 minutes with the lid closed. Have fun trying! Our shopping tip:
