The desire to make the world just a little bit better, who doesn’t have it?
No matter whether you look around in your own country or far away, help is needed from every corner. Whether for environmental protection, endangered animal species or people in need: there are so many possibilities and above all reasons to do good. However, the intention is always the same: to help someone.
So after long deliberations we finally came up with an idea how we can help in 2015: The RED CAP donation box! The goal? Donate part of our income to people in emergency situations. The organization, which we have been actively supporting every year since then, is arche Nova e.V .. Mr. Franz, who is responsible for the procurement of all financial aid and cooperation, once gave us a closer look at his tasks, goals and ideas:
“More than six years after the outbreak of the civil war in Syria, peace is still not in sight for one of the greatest humanitarian crises of our time. Arche noVa has been an association in northern Syria since 2012. So this project lasts longer than I work for the club at all. I understand when people ask me whether the help there makes any sense at all, whether all of this is not just a drop in the bucket. And yet my answer will always be: This help is not only useful, I consider it our humanitarian duty. Even if one feels powerless at times given the extent of this horror, it helps to put yourself in the shoes of the local people: Wouldn’t you do everything every day to get your own family through? Wouldn’t you be grateful for any help with this everyday challenge?
Over the past five years, our team has distributed thousands of aid packages on site and delivered countless kilograms of flour to bakeries so that they can bake bread from them. Our technicians have repaired local power grids and water disposal systems. We disposed of piles of garbage that piled up in the suburbs of Aleppo after the infrastructure collapse and became the hotbed of infectious diseases.
With all of our activities, we support people who do not want to flee, but often enough cannot escape, in their daily struggle for their own survival and that of their relatives. In addition: Syria threatens a lost generation. Many children have never attended school. Who should rebuild the country when peace comes at some point? arche noVa therefore organizes school lessons at schools, distributes pencils, pads and backpacks to the children and pays the teachers a basic salary.
Even if arche noVa is carrying out aid projects in addition to the measures in Syria, Lebanon and Iraq: Of course we cannot manage the humanitarian catastrophe in the Middle East alone, but we can be part of a network of helpers who make a contribution. For this reason, we are very grateful that Hartkorn Gewürzmühle GmbH joined this network to a certain extent with the introduction of the “Red Cap Donation Boxes” campaign in 2015 and has supported us in our activities in Syria since then.
These motives still drive us today and perhaps the vision of a fairer, more humane world is more important than ever given the situation in Syria and elsewhere. ”
If that’s not even the perfect organization for our annual Red Cap fundraiser! We are looking forward to this year’s campaign with anticipation!
