Project presentation Red Cap 2018/2019
This year we want to draw attention to a situation in Bangladesh or neighboring Myanmar and support an aid project by arche noVa e.V. in the crisis region. Due to the little to no media attention, we find it important to support here and to focus more on the explosive topic.
So, first of all, what’s going on?
Currently thousands of Rohingyas have fled to refugee camps in Bangladesh. Most of the refugees are persecuted from neighboring Myanmar, better known as Burma or Burmi.
The Muslim believing Rohingyas have been persecuted and suppressed in the predominantly Buddhist country for years. The trigger and culmination of the wave of refugees was an attack by Rohingya rebels on security forces in August 2017. The military reacted immediately with counter-violence and destroyed several Rohingya villages. The UN strongly condemns this approach.
What is supported by the project?
As is so often the case in refugee camps, state and donated funds are often insufficient to adequately provide the necessary medical and humanitarian aid. Experts are also alarming the restrained willingness to donate in the first year of the crisis. The United Nations has launched a call for donations aimed at raising a billion dollars. The donations, in the usually stronger first year of donation, amounted to just a third.
And this is where you come in, and arche noVa: With this year’s Red Cap fundraiser, we are supporting the project “Emergency aid for refugee Rohingyas in Bangladesh”. With the donations, arche noVa ensures that the living conditions in the refugee camps in Bangladesh improve.
How does the action work?
As in previous years, you will soon find selected hard-grain spice jars with a red lid on the spice shelf of your dealer. And new this year: For the first time we are also selling all Red Cap articles in our online shop! For each can sold, we donate 5 cents to arche noVa e.V. to support the Bangladesh project.
As usual, we will inform you on our website and in our social media channels about the current status of the donation amount.
The sum collected in this way will probably go to arche noVa around January / February. In the following weeks we will inform the arche about what happened to the money. For this purpose we publish image and video material.
For the first time we will distribute the Red Cap jars this year through our online shop, more on that next week!
Until then, we are really looking forward to doing good things with you again! Watch out for our “Red Cap Weekly” reports from now on! We’ll tell you soon when it starts …
If you have any questions about the campaign, don’t hesitate to ask us.
